Job Summary: Works
alongside children's education staff to develop,
teach and evaluate plant based programs and self-guided
garden activities for children and families. Uses
classroom teaching skills and knowledge of child
development to develop new and creative programs.
Enhances curriculum development, teaching skills
and plant knowledge.
Position is for 20 hours per week
for 8 consecutive weeks; exact schedule to be
determined upon hiring; sometime from late May
to mid August 2008
Qualifications/Experience:
Must be a currently practicing classroom teacher
in grades prek-6th. Strongly believes in hands-on,
constructivist teaching philosophy. Skilled in
Microsoft Office applications.
Working Conditions:
Will work in an office, classroom and outdoor
setting. Willing to work with children for multiple
hours at a time. Must be able to withstand heat
and the outdoors for an extended period of time.
Camp Counselor Status:
Temporary Position
Job Summary: Under
general supervision, actively supervise ~12 children
(ages 6-12) in a day camp setting while implementing
creative, hands-on, plant based activities. Activities
may include gardening, science, arts and crafts
and storytelling.
Position is from June 19-20 and
July 7-18, 2008. Monday through Friday, 8:15 a.m.
to 4:30 p.m.
Qualifications/Experience:
Must have a minimum of 2 years experience working
with elementary-age children in a classroom, camp
or after school setting. A valid teachers license
or education degree is preferred. Must possess
excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
A background of plants is desired, but not necessary.
Working Conditions:
Will work in both a classroom and outdoor settings
supervising and teaching children. Must be able
to withstand heat and the outdoors for an extended
period of time.

Fall 2008 Education Intern

The Museum Education Intern will
work with the Curator of Education to assist in
organizing and implementing the Museum’s
educational programming including school programs,
after-school Scout programs, and occasional weekend
family programming.
Typical Duties
- Manage communications with school
groups, scout groups and adult groups to register,
schedule and evaluate tours and programs
- Keep museum education master
calendar both online and onsite
- Lead museum tours and programs
for students and scouts in the permanent exhibition
and museum classroom space
- Assist in research and development
of new Boy Scout programs in partnership with
Boulder Genealogical Society
- Manage upkeep of Museum interactives
including materials, cleaning and minor maintenance
- Assist Museum staff in
projects as needed including exhibit installation
and de-installation, and Museum reception duties
including answering phones, greeting visitors
and visitor orientation
Employment Terms
- Reports to Curator of Education
- Stipend will be $10/hour
- Employment term is 5-6 months,
July/August-December 19, 2008. 15 hours/week,
not including Thanksgiving week.
- Occasional weekend and evening
hours may be required for programs and reception
- Intern is responsible for maintaining
own time sheet and submitting to supervisor
in a timely manner
Qualifications and Skills
- Preference given to those participating in
a graduate level museum studies program
- Demonstrated understanding of youth group
management skills and the needs of Museum family
and youth visitors preferred
- Successful candidates will demonstrate flexible
and positive attitude, a willingness to take
risks, and creativity. Team players and those
who can demonstrate an ability to take initiative
will be given preference.

Curator to perform educational programming, plan
exhibitions and collections management. Will secure
and monitor grants, participate in fund raisers,
handle publicity and marketing as well as staff
for major events.
Accessions, authenticates, evaluates,
catalogues, indexes, and stores artifacts and
achival materials for a municipal museum. Preserves
and maintains collections and records; plans,
researches, designs, organizes, interprets and
presents exhibitions. Supervises, recruits, trains
and schedules volunteers; creates, promotes and
implements educational programs; coordinates with
communities, business and grant agencies.
Qualifications: Bachelors degree
in history, or museum studies, two years experience
or any equivalent combination of education and
experience. Must be an expert user of Past Perfect
software. Photoshop, Adobe, Excel and Publisher
preferred. Previous supervisory experience a plus.
Hiring Range: Hourly Range $38,472
to $45,204 DOQ

The City of Greeley Museums

The City of Greeley Museums seeks
a detail-oriented and self-motivated person to
assist the collections staff at the Greeley History
Museum in the scanning of historic images and
the digitization of audio and video files for
patrons, staff and other city departments; and
the digital preservation of the museum's collection.
This position will also assist in the processing
of new museum acquisitions, which may include
writing descriptions of artifacts, writing condition
reports, photography, cleaning, marking artifacts
with numbers, and making mounts. Other duties
as assigned. The City of Greeley Museums collection
consists of historic objects, textiles, photographs,
books, maps, archival records, ethnographic and
numerous other items.

LEAD INTERPRETER

JOB DUTIES: Seeking an energetic
and creative individual with a passion for communicating
history in a wide variety of public forums. This
position is responsible for the planning, coordination
and implementation of historic site public programs
for daily visitation, special events and school
programs. Works under the supervision of the Historic
Site Manager to recruit, hire, train and schedule
hourly staff. Responsible for the recruitment,
training and scheduling of adult and youth volunteer
Docents.
Minimum Qualifications: Three years
of progressively increasing responsibility in
developing and implementing public education programs
at Parks, Museums or Historic Sites, or an equivalent
combination of related education and experience.
Proven capabilities in verbal and written communication
skills.
Desirable Qualifications: Bachelor’s
degree in the field of Natural and Cultural Interpretation,
History, Education or related field and three
years experience in interpretive programming at
Parks, Museums or Historic Sites. Demonstrated
abilities and experience in supervision of adults
and youth. Possesses previous front line experience
in hands on cultural interpretation.
Working knowledge and abilities
in computer skills such as word, graphic design
and digital photo applications. Knowledge and
understanding of Museum accessioning policies
and collections care.

to meet multiple simultaneous challenges on a

Working Conditions: Salary Range:

funding opportunities and helps write grants for
NAGPRA activities; works with the national NAGPRA

museum records including NAGPRA contact database;
review and revise DUMA NAGPRA policies when needed;
